Here are all the features that we find useful.

Cross-Platform

Adobe Spark Post is available for free on the Web, Android and iOS. Every design you make is saved in the cloud and is synced across all devices.

According to the app, Adobe Spark Post has over 20,000 templates. On the home screen, you are presented with several templates (both free and premium) divided into categories like Seasonal, Lifestyle and so on. The search bar allows you to find a relevant template for your need.

Design Tools

In this section, we are going to design a very simple graphics with which we can demonstrate all the design tool and discover all the features.

Choosing A Background

Creating beautiful graphics for social media requires a suitable choice of background and dimensions for your target platform.

For the background, you can either search for free stock images or use a photo from your device. Alternatively, choose a solid colour and customize it with a slider present in the app or enter a hex code.

As we all know, different social media platforms work with different dimensions. Once you have chosen a background, you are prompted to choose the dimensions for your graphic. In Adobe Spark Post, various dimensions specific to various social media platforms are available. The best thing is you do not need to remember them!

If you are customizing a template, most of the work is already done for you.

You can adjust the background image like Rotate and Scale from the Adjust tab, add some basic filters and even blur the image from the Looks tab and colour correct from the Enhance tab.

Layout

Adobe Spark Post comes with a few opinionated layout options within which you can place stylized text.

From the Layout options, you can choose what kind of layouts do you want. You cannot customize your own grid layout. However, there are a handful of layouts to choose from.

Alternatively, you can also select a suitable design from the Design tab. You can customise the font and other details separately.

You can customize the width of the border around each cell with the help of a slider.

Typography

An overview of the available fonts and text styling options.

Now, there is a lot of fun things you can do here. First and foremost, Adobe Spark Post comes with a good collection of fonts from which you can choose from. Additionally, you can also download from Adobe Fonts.

Sometimes the text requires some highlighting which you can achieve with the Shape and the Effect tabs. As shown in the screenshot, you have a few choices which you can try out.

Additionally, we have the usual customization options for selecting the size, changing the alignment and adjusting the opacity of the text.

Finally, from the Spacing tab, you can customise letter space, change the line-height and if you are using a shape, then you can increase the gap between them.

Photos and Icons

Adobe Spark Post lets you add images from different stock image websites as well as your gallery. Icons weren’t left behind either!

Click on Add > Photo to add photos to your design. All the images are sourced from different stock image websites. On clicking the Info button on the top, you will get all information regarding the license. You can also select images from your device’s gallery.

You can replace the image by just tapping on the image and then selecting the Replace option. Additionally, you can make certain adjustments like rotation and flip. From the Enhance tab, you can adjust the Contrast, Brightness, Saturation and so on.

Likewise, for Icons, you have to select Add > Icon and you find what sort of icons you are looking for. Before using them, check the license by clicking the Info button on top or tapping on the icon.

For the Icon, you can choose the colour and change the opacity and of course, adjust them to suit the design.

Animation

As far as animation is concerned, there is not much you can do. Either you can have your text animate or the photo. There are some animation effects which you can choose and try out. For instance, you can have a typewriter effect for the text or have a zoom-in effect for the photo and so on. You cannot layer the effects and there is not much customisation available.

Exporting and Sharing

You can export your design normally or as a transparent image. If your design contains animated clips, you can also export it as a video.

If your design consists of just text or an icon, you can also export it as a transparent image, which is ideal of logo design.

For an animated clip, you can either export it as an image or as a video.

The Final Verdict

As someone who manages GeekyMinds’s social media, I find apps like Adobe Spark Post very useful and time-saving. However, it is really difficult to find one perfect app suitable for all kinds of social media posts.

Adobe Spark Post comes with a lot of features and the whole purpose of the app is to make the designing process easy. It should not be compared to other more professional software. However, Adobe Spark Post certainly could use a lot more tools. The major drawback I would say is the lack of an Undo/Redo button. According to their team, they are working on that feature so we may expect it sometime in the future.

Aside from that, one of the most recurring feature request I found in the forum is the shape tool. I also personally feel most of the sliders when changing the font sizes and spaces should also have an input for precision.

To wrap things up, I would highly recommend this app for content creators and social media influencers. Also, the result looks incredibly professional for the amount of effort one needs to actually put in.
